Lindsay Machine Works, Inc. was founded by Mike and Susanna Lindsay in 1994, just east of Kansas City, Missouri. Our company’s story, however, starts 14 years earlier in 1980 when Mike left Kansas City and entered a U.S. Navy machinist school in San Diego, CA. After machinist school, Mike worked on a destroyer tender, the USS Prairie, in the machine shop onboard. Meanwhile, Susanna received a Business Administration degree in 1982 from Point Loma College, also located in San Diego. After marrying and completing their time in the Navy, Mike and Susanna returned to the Kansas City area in 1984.
In 1994, Mike and Susanna decided to start their own machine shop- Lindsay Machine Works. Susanna worked primarily in sales and bookkeeping, while Mike used his skills to make parts for customers.
In 2018, Mike and Susanna semi-retired after welcoming back their daughter, Rachel Lindsay-Elston, to the area and the company. After experiences in many facets of engineering & manufacturing at both Apple & GE, Rachel was ready to return to her early roots. Between long term Operations Manager Doug Rudd, Rachel, and the rest of the team, LMW is smoothly entering a new era.
